Quilceda Creek Makes Washington Wine History
With Remarkable Back-to-Back Vintages of "Perfect" Wine

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate Awards 2002 & 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon 100 Points

Snohomish, Wash., April 24, 2006 – The newest issue of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, one of the most influential wine publications in the world, has awarded Washington State’s first 100-point wine ratings to two Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignons. Both the 2002 and 2003 vintages of the winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon received 100 points in the April 24th issue of Parker’s Wine Advocate. It is the first time any Washington wine has earned 100-points--an achievement only a handful of wineries in the world can claim.

Receiving two 100-point ratings for consecutive vintages puts Quilceda Creek in even more rarefied territory. The Wine Advocate has given 100 points to consecutive vintages of the same wine only five other times since it began publishing in 1978. "There isn’t a Cabernet producer with this winery’s track record for consistency," writes the Wine Advocate in its latest issue. "Now Quilceda Creek has produced two wines that are second to none."

Quilceda Creek is a small, family-owned and operated winery in Snohomish, Wash., celebrating its 25th vintage with the release of its 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon this spring. Winemaker Paul Golitzin, 35, followed his father’s footsteps into winemaking in 1992. "Paul has been relentless in his quest to produce one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons in the world," says his father Alex. "Our wine is what it is today primarily because of Paul’s outstanding palate and creativity."

Accolades for Washington Vineyards

"Washington State’s Columbia Valley, long described as having great potential, has fulfilled many expectations and its future is as bright today as any viticultural region’s on Earth," writes the current edition of the Wine Advocate.

"Quilceda Creek's Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to the quality vineyards and wines of Washington State," says Robin Pollard, Executive Director of the Washington Wine Commission. "Vintage after vintage, Quilceda Creek Cabernet consistently garners accolades from leading wine critics. Achieving a 'perfect' 100-point score is a tremendous honor and proves that Washington is in league with the finest wine producing regions in the world."

Quilceda Creek was the only Washington winery featured in Mr. Parker’s most recent book, The World’s Greatest Wine Estates, placing the winery alongside such old world estates as Lafite, Latour and Petrus, and new world notables such as Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate and Shafer’s Hillside Select, just to name a few. "(Quilceda Creek) is turning out compelling wines of irrefutable richness and complexity," writes Parker, "These are prodigious, world-class wines."

Limited Availability

Quilceda Creek produces approximately 3,400 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon each year that sells out on release. The winery is sold out of both 100 point wines.

Much of the Quilceda Creek’s wine is sold to consumers directly but a limited amount of wine is available through fine wine shops and restaurants around the country. The winery is currently accepting mailing list registration at www.QuilcedaCreek.com. New registrants will be activated as vintage production allows.

The 100 point rated 2002 and 2003 Cabernet Sauvignons sold in the mid $80 range upon release. Napa Valley cult wines and French First-Growths receiving similar ratings can be two to three times more expensive than Quilceda Creek.

In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, Quilceda Creek makes a few hundred cases of Merlot. In 2007, Quilceda Creek will offer its private mailing list customers its first Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the winery’s estate vineyard on Red Mountain.
